More video resumes sites are popping up left and right. And while their popularity remains to be seen in the professional world, there’s no doubt that college students are catching on. There are even parodies that are are good for a chuckle or two. The folks at video production company Corp Shorts must have noticed, because they’re creating a site that is just for college kids. CareerBuilder Ends Video Resume Experiment
Little more than a year after introducing video resumes, CareerBuilder has discontinued the service. It was quietly taken offline in June. The company won’t say how many jobseekers posted videos, but it seems the participation rate wasn’t high enough to warrant CareerBuilder’s effort. careerbuilder touts 5,000 facebook friends
Today on Facebook, CareerBuilder is touting the acquisition of its 5,000th friend. CareerBuilder launched their page around March 2008, accompanied with advertising dollars and a nice chunk of buzz. If you’re scoring at home, that’s roughly 1,000 new fans per month. survey says 2 out of 4 people are sick of surveys
OK, I haven’t really seen a study that proves this yet, but I think it might be worth pursuing. There is rarely a day where a fresh survey doesn’t pop up in my inbox promising to shed light on another mysterious issue plaguing the employment industry. linkedin goes mobile with iphone app
Professional networking site LinkedIn has launched a new iPhone application with most of the same features from their Web site, plus a few new ones. iPhone users can now search and add business contacts to the new LinkedIn portal. When adding a new contact, this information can also be uploaded to your phone’s directory. VentureLoop, a job site that has restricted job posting functions to startups backed by their venture capital firm client list, will soon give all VC-funded companies the ability to post jobs.
